Ask the drafting agent for a new contract

What you will be able to do

This lesson is for the legal team. You will fill in every field of the Draft a Contract form, describing a consulting engagement, and start the AI drafting agent. The agent takes a few minutes, so the next lesson picks up when the draft is ready.

Before you start

  • You are signed in with the Legal counsel role, which may create contract drafts.
  • You know the contract type, the legal names of both parties, and the main commercial terms: scope, fee, dates and any special conditions.
  • Drafting is done by an AI agent in the background and usually takes two to three minutes.

Steps

    Open the Draft a Contract tab

    On the Contracts screen, select the Draft a Contract tab. The first panel, Agentic Contract Drafting, explains the process: an AI agent plans the clauses, writes each one with a reference to UAE law, then checks its own work. A person reviews and approves the result before it becomes a contract.

    Select Draft a Contract

    Select the Draft a Contract button on the right of the panel. The form opens with seven fields.

    Choose the contract type

    Open Contract Type and choose the kind of agreement. The type decides which clauses from the UAE Clause Library the agent uses. Here we choose Consulting.

    Name the two parties

    In Party A, type the full legal name of your own company. In Party B, type the full legal name of the other side. Both are required: the agent will not start without them.

    Describe the key terms

    In Key Terms, say in your own words what the contract must cover: the scope of work, the fee and how it is paid, the start and end dates, and any special conditions. You may leave it empty, but the agent then has to assume everything.

    Set the jurisdiction and governing law

    Jurisdiction and Governing Law are filled in with United Arab Emirates and UAE Federal Law. Change them if the deal needs something else. Here we make the jurisdiction more exact by typing Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and leave the governing law as it is.

    Choose the drafting posture

    Open Drafting posture. Balanced gives market-standard wording. The second option favours Party A, marked us, and leans the clauses towards your company. The third favours Party B, the counterparty. All three stay within what UAE law and the clause library allow. We are the client, so choose the option that favours us.

    Select Review and Draft

    Select Review and Draft, AI Agent, at the foot of the form. The agent first reads your request. Here it had everything it needed, so drafting started straight away. If it needs more from you, it asks in this same form before it starts.

    Leave the agent to work

    The button now reads Drafting, this can take a while. Keep the form open. The agent plans the clauses, writes them, runs the compliance checks and the risk score on its own draft, and screens the counterparty against sanctions lists. After two to three minutes the form closes and the draft opens for review.

How to check it worked

the button at the foot of the form reads Drafting, this can take a while. When the agent finishes, the draft opens for review and is listed under Contract Drafts.

Common mistakes

  • Giving the agent thin key terms. It fills every gap with an assumption. State the scope, the fee, the dates and the special conditions in plain sentences.
  • Typing a trading name instead of the legal name of a party. The names are copied into the contract and screened against sanctions lists as written.
  • Expecting a finished contract. The agent produces a first draft. A person must read it, and a second person must approve it, before it can become a contract.
