File the amendment and read the return's history

What you will be able to do

This lesson is for the tax manager. After the accountant has corrected and recomputed a reopened return, you file the amendment, as the second person, once it has been submitted on the authority's portal. You will file it and read the return's history of filed versions.

Before you start

  • You are signed in as the tax manager, Fatima Noor. The August return has been reopened and recomputed by the accountant: 4,500.00 dirhams.
  • The amended return has been submitted on the authority's portal under the invented reference EX-2026-08-0098-A1.

Steps

    Open the August return

    In the left menu select Excise Tax, then Returns. The August card is a Draft with 4,500.00 dirhams, and its buttons read Recompute, File amendment and PDF.

    Select File amendment

    Select File amendment. The same Confirm Filing window opens. In Filing Reference type the reference of the amended return, EX-2026-08-0098-A1.

    Select Confirm and File

    Select Confirm and File. The card's status changes to Amended, Filing Ref shows the new reference, and the buttons are Amend and PDF again.

    Read the history

    Select Filed versions on the card. Version 1 is the return first filed: reference EX-2026-08-0098, the date it was filed, excise due of 6,000.00 dirhams, when it was reopened and the accountant's reason. The current figures and reference are on the card itself.

How to check it worked

The August card shows the status Amended, the new filing reference and excise due of 4,500.00 dirhams. Under Filed versions, version 1 shows the first reference, 6,000.00 dirhams and the reason for reopening.

Common mistakes

  • Filing the amendment before checking the recomputed figures. Read the card and its breakdown first.
  • Reusing the old reference. Type the reference the portal gave the amended return, so the history shows which acknowledgement belongs to which version.
