Lesson 8 of 26

Rania finds what is overdue to the free zone

For: Compliance officerAbout 5 min

What you will be able to do

This lesson is for the compliance officer. A free-zone company owes its authority returns, audited accounts and fees by set dates, and a late item can carry a penalty. You will ask Rania, the AI agent for free zones, what Meridian Souq E-Commerce FZ-LLC owes Dubai Internet City, what is overdue and what that will cost, and check her answer on the Free Zone page.

Before you start

  • You are signed in as the compliance officer, with access to Meridian Souq E-Commerce FZ-LLC.
  • The company's Dubai Internet City licence and its obligations are set up under Free Zone.

Steps

  1. 1

    Ask Rania what you owe

On Meridian Souq E-Commerce FZ-LLC, open the AI team's Chat, type @ and pick Rania, the free-zone agent, and type: what do we owe the Dubai Internet City authority for Meridian Souq E-Commerce FZ-LLC, and is anything overdue? If so, what will it cost us?

    • Type Message to the AI team: @Ran

  3. 3

    Follow Rania's to-do list

Rania writes a short to-do list on her card: read the licence and its obligations, work out what is overdue and what it costs, and report back. The line Now: says what she is doing.

  4. 4

    Read Rania's answer

Rania's green Answer starts with what matters: one item is overdue, the audit submission for 2025, due on 30 June and 116 days late. The penalty calculator returned zero, and Rania says that doesn't fit the zone's published schedule, which has 3,000 dirhams for a late audit; she has reported the calculator fault and suggests planning for at least that amount. To clear it, submit the audited accounts on the authority's portal and send her the receipt; marking the item complete is for a person. She then lists what is coming up, including the licence renewal, and what was already filed for 2025, and says she told Majid, because audited accounts are also a condition for the 0% free-zone rate.

See how Rania worked it out

On Rania's card, select the line that says how long she worked. The steps show what she read, the penalty calculation she ran and its result, and the message she sent Majid.

  6. 6

    Check Free Zones

In the left menu, open Free Zones. The summary shows one overdue item, and a line Unpaid penalty, Late filing, 0.00 dirhams: the calculation Rania ran and questioned. The licence DIC-L-93127 is below, and the obligations are under Compliance. Nothing has been marked complete; confirming the penalty and clearing the item are yours.

How to check it worked

Rania's green Answer names the overdue 2025 audit submission and what it may cost, lists what is coming up, and says she marked nothing complete. Free Zone shows the same obligations.

Common mistakes

  • Marking an obligation complete because the agent mentioned it. Only mark it once the submission is made.
  • Taking a penalty figure on trust. Rania checks the calculator against the zone's published schedule and says when they disagree; confirm the amount with the authority.
