Course 22

The AI team at work

Course 21 introduced the AI team. This course follows the agents through a working month at Meridian Souq Group, one job per lesson. Each agent is an AI agent, not a person: it works through ComplianceOS with its own key, only the permissions it was given and only on the companies it has been let onto, and a person checks and approves what matters. Work starts in three ways, all shown here: you write to an agent in the chat; something happens in the app, such as a licence registered, a data subject request logged or a regulatory alert, and the right agent starts by itself; or an agent stops to ask you a question or for a go-ahead before a change. While an agent works you can follow its to-do list and, afterwards, every step it took. You can hand it a file, send it an urgent note with Interrupt, or Stop it, and it hands over what it has done. Answers from the agents vary from one run to the next; the lessons say what to look for rather than the exact words. The company and every figure are fictional.

Lessons

  1. 1Majid projects a free-zone company's corporate taxThis lesson is for the tax manager. Majid, the AI agent for corporate tax, can project a year's corporate tax from the records as they stand and test a free-zone company against the conditions for the 0% rate. You will ask Majid for the 2026 projection of Meridian Souq E-Commerce FZ-LLC, follow its to-do list while it works, read its answer and open the step-by-step record of what it did. Majid prepares a draft; nothing is filed, and a person decides.7 min
  2. 2Majid sets up the transfer-pricing recordsThis lesson is for the tax manager. Transactions with related parties, such as a management fee paid to the parent company, must be priced at arm's length and disclosed with the corporate tax return. You will ask Majid, the AI agent for corporate tax, to set up the 2026 transfer-pricing records of Meridian Souq Trading LLC and prepare the disclosure, follow its to-do list, and check the records in Transfer Pricing. The records stay drafts for you to review.7 min
  3. 3Badr projects the tax group's corporate taxThis lesson is for the tax manager of the group. Meridian Souq Holdings, Trading and Hospitality form one corporate tax group, which files one return. Badr, the AI agent for group tax, builds the group projection from each member's corporate tax figures and takes out the transactions between members. You will ask Badr for the 2026 group projection from the parent company, follow its work, read its answer and look at the step-by-step record.7 min
  4. 4Huda registers a new drink for exciseThis lesson is for the tax manager. Sweetened drinks are excise goods: the tax depends on the sugar content and is due when the goods leave the designated zone. Huda, the AI agent for excise, works out the category and rate from a product sheet, registers the product and records its movements. You will paste the product sheet of a new iced tea into the chat, approve Huda's go-aheads and check the product and the release in Excise.7 min
  5. 5Huda previews October's excise returnThis lesson is for the tax manager. Before the month ends you can ask Huda, the AI agent for excise, what the month's return will look like and what might be missing. A question changes nothing: Huda reads the movements and the preview and reports. You will ask Huda about October and read its answer.5 min
  6. 6Change your mind: stop an agentThis lesson is for the tax manager. You can stop an agent at any time. Stop tells it to finish the step it is on and hand over what it has done so far; nothing it already did is lost, and it starts nothing new. You will ask Hind, the VAT agent, to classify Meridian Souq Hospitality LLC's third quarter, then remember that the accountant is already doing it, stop Hind and look at what it had done.5 min
  7. 7Rania starts by herself when a licence is registeredThis lesson is for the compliance officer. Some work starts without a message: when something happens in ComplianceOS, the agent whose job it is starts on it by itself. Registering a free-zone licence is one of those events: Rania, the AI agent for free zones, sets up what the company now owes the free-zone authority. You will register the Jebel Ali Free Zone licence of Meridian Souq Manufacturing FZE, see Rania's work appear on the Work page, and read her handover.7 min
  8. 8Rania finds what is overdue to the free zoneThis lesson is for the compliance officer. A free-zone company owes its authority returns, audited accounts and fees by set dates, and a late item can carry a penalty. You will ask Rania, the AI agent for free zones, what Meridian Souq E-Commerce FZ-LLC owes Dubai Internet City, what is overdue and what that will cost, and check her answer on the Free Zone page.5 min
  9. 9Nasser screens new customers, and you change the briefThis lesson is for the AML officer. Before a new business customer can trade, it and its owners are screened against the sanctions lists and for politically exposed persons. Nasser, the AI agent for financial crime, screens each customer and owner by name and lists what is still missing for onboarding. Halfway through, one customer pulls out: you will use Interrupt to tell Nasser to leave it out, without stopping the rest of the work.7 min
  10. 10A possible sanctions match goes to the MLROThis lesson is for the AML officer, who is also the money laundering reporting officer, the MLRO. When a screening finds a possible match on a sanctions list, an agent never clears or confirms it: the decision is the MLRO's. You will ask Nasser to screen a new freight supplier, answer its question about who decides, and see the match assigned to you.7 min
  11. 11Nasser triages the open AML alertsThis lesson is for the AML officer. Transaction monitoring raises alerts, for example on large cash payments or on a pattern of payments kept just under a threshold. Nasser, the AI agent for financial crime, can run the monitoring, look at each open alert and say which need attention. You will ask Nasser to triage the open alerts, answer its go-aheads and its question, and read its findings.6 min
  12. 12Samira picks up a data subject requestThis lesson is for the Data Protection Officer. When a person asks for a copy of their data, the company has a set time to answer under the UAE data protection law, the PDPL. Logging the request is an event that starts Samira, the AI agent for data protection, by herself: she works out the deadline, starts the search for the person's data and says what is left for you. You will log an access request, follow Samira's work on the Work page and read her handover.7 min
  13. 13Samira drafts a data protection impact assessmentThis lesson is for the Data Protection Officer. New processing that is likely to be high risk, such as analysing shoppers on CCTV, needs a data protection impact assessment, a DPIA, before it starts. Samira, the AI agent for data protection, drafts it from the template, asks you the facts only you know, and sends it to you for approval. You will ask for the DPIA, answer Samira's questions and find the draft waiting for your approval.8 min
  14. 14Samira assesses a processor abroadThis lesson is for the Data Protection Officer. When customer data goes to a company outside the UAE, you need to know the processor's risks and whether the transfer is safe: a vendor risk review and a transfer impact assessment, a TIA. You will ask Samira, the AI agent for data protection, to do both for the web shop's hosting provider in the US, answer her questions, and find the assessment waiting for your approval.8 min
  15. 15Maha prepares the privacy policy for approvalThis lesson is for the Data Protection Officer. Maha, the AI agent for privacy governance, keeps the company's privacy policies, notices and training in order. You will ask Maha to prepare the customer privacy policy from the template, approve her go-ahead to submit it, and find it waiting for your approval.6 min
  16. 16Maha handles a privacy complaintThis lesson is for the Data Protection Officer. A customer complains that they still get offer e-mails after unsubscribing. Logging the complaint is an event that starts Maha, the AI agent for privacy governance, by herself: she records the facts, checks the consent and the suppression list, stops the e-mails and drafts the outcome for you. You will log the complaint, answer Maha's questions and read her handover.8 min
  17. 17Jamal prepares October's salary fileThis lesson is for the HR director. Salaries in the UAE are paid through the Wage Protection System, WPS, with a salary information file, the SIF, that the bank checks. Jamal, the AI agent for the workforce, previews the file, finds what would make the bank reject it, asks you for the missing details and generates the file for you to check. You will ask Jamal for October's file, answer its question and approve its go-aheads.7 min
  18. 18Jamal chases expiring visas and IDsThis lesson is for the HR director. Visas, Emirates IDs and labour cards expire, and a lapsed one brings fines. Jamal, the AI agent for the workforce, lists what is expiring or expired and asks you, in one question, where each renewal stands. You will ask Jamal to chase the renewals, answer its question and read the table it hands over.6 min
  19. 19Walid reviews a new supplier contractThis lesson is for legal counsel. Walid, the AI agent for contracts, reads a contract the app has analysed, sets up what the company must do under it, the obligations, with their deadlines, and sets out the risks for you. When the app scores a newly uploaded contract as high risk, Walid starts on it by himself. You will upload the new freight forwarding agreement with Gulfline Freight Services, see Walid start, approve the corrections he proposes under Needs you, and read the risks in his handover.8 min
  20. 20Walid lists what the contracts require before year endThis lesson is for legal counsel. Contracts carry dates that are easy to miss: payments, reports, notice periods before an automatic renewal. You will ask Walid, the AI agent for contracts, what the company's contracts require before the end of the year, and check his list on the Contracts page. A question changes nothing.5 min
  21. 21Sultan works out what a regulatory change meansThis lesson is for the compliance officer. ComplianceOS follows regulators' publications and matches each new one to the companies it may affect. A high-impact match raises an alert, and the alert is an event that starts Sultan, the AI agent for risk and regulation: he reads the change, says what it means for the company and hands the work it needs to the right colleague. You will find a new alert about VAT on loyalty points, follow Sultan's work and read his handover.8 min
  22. 22Ghada maps a policy for an internal auditThis lesson is for the compliance officer leading an internal audit. In Audit Hub a policy is turned into auditable points, the controls the audit tests. Ghada, the AI agent for audit, reads the policy, runs the mapping and checks it against the policy's own wording. You will ask Ghada to map the procurement and payments policy and read the mapping she prepared for your review.6 min
  23. 23Amal gets September ready to closeThis lesson is for the finance manager. Closing a month means checking that everything is in: journals posted, bank lines matched, accruals made. Amal, the AI agent for finance, runs the close checklist, prepares what is missing for your approval and tells you what is left. You will ask Amal to get September ready, see her hand part of the work to Hind, and read what is left for you. You close the period yourself.7 min
  24. 24Reem turns activity data into emissionsThis lesson is for the person who leads sustainability reporting. Reem, the AI agent for ESG, turns a plant's activity data, such as electricity, diesel and fuel used, into emissions and drafts the sustainability report. You will paste the plant's 2025 activity data into the chat, approve her go-ahead and find the report waiting for your review.8 min
  25. 25Lina brings in a bank statement and matches itThis lesson is for the finance manager. Lina, the AI agent for data intake, reads files such as bank statements, brings them into ComplianceOS and matches the lines to the books. A bank's own export rarely has the app's layout; Lina reads it, reshapes it and imports it. You will point Lina to the third-quarter statement of Meridian Souq Hospitality's Gulf Horizon account, follow her to-do list, and read what is left for you to match.7 min
  26. 26Dalia gathers evidence from the libraryThis lesson is for the compliance officer. Compliance tasks often need proof: a copy of the trade licence, the VAT certificate, a signed policy. Dalia, the AI agent for evidence, finds the documents in the library, reads them, puts them in the Evidence Vault against the right task and has each reviewed. You will attach a document the library doesn't have yet, ask Dalia to get the open evidence tasks ready, approve her go-aheads, and find the evidence waiting for your sign-off. Attach files gives the file to the agent you are writing to; Dalia, like Lina and Hind, can open what you attach.7 min

How this connects to the rest of ComplianceOS

  • Chat, to-do lists and the step-by-step record

Every message to an agent becomes a conversation with a card for each agent working on it: its to-do list while it works, the line Now: with what it is doing, and a collapsed record of every step it took, with results and the records it read or changed. The person who asked can Interrupt with a note or Stop the work.

  • Work and Needs you

Work that starts by itself, from an event in the app, appears on the Work page with its objective, steps and handover. Questions and go-aheads wait under Needs you and in the conversation; answering one sends the agent on.

  • The modules the agents work in

Agents prepare records in the modules: corporate tax and transfer pricing, excise, free zones, sanctions and AML, PDPL, workforce, contracts, regulatory, Audit Hub, accounting, ESG and evidence. Each lesson ends by checking the result on the module's own page, where people review, approve, sign off and file.

Meridian Souq Group is a fictional company used throughout these lessons. Every person, record and figure shown is invented for training.
