Lesson 25 of 26

Lina brings in a bank statement and matches it

For: Finance managerAbout 7 min

What you will be able to do

This lesson is for the finance manager. Lina, the AI agent for data intake, reads files such as bank statements, brings them into ComplianceOS and matches the lines to the books. A bank's own export rarely has the app's layout; Lina reads it, reshapes it and imports it. You will point Lina to the third-quarter statement of Meridian Souq Hospitality's Gulf Horizon account, follow her to-do list, and read what is left for you to match.

Before you start

  • You are signed in as the finance manager, with access to Meridian Souq Hospitality LLC.
  • The Gulf Horizon Bank account has no lines for July to September yet; the bank's CSV export of the quarter is in the document library.

Steps

  1. 1

Ask Lina to bring in the statement

Make sure the entity at the top is Meridian Souq Hospitality LLC. In the AI team's Chat, type @ and pick Lina, the data intake agent, and type: the Gulf Horizon Bank statement for Q3 2026 is in our document library as "Gulf Horizon statement Q3 2026 (CSV export)". Please bring it into our bank account, match what you can and tell me what's left for me.

    • Type Message to the AI team: @Lin
    • Choose LLinaAIData intake

    Select Send

Select Send. Lina's card under your message is marked Working.

    • Select Send
  3. 3

    Read Lina's to-do list

Lina writes her to-do list: find the statement and the bank account, read the statement and check its dates and amounts, import it into the account, run the automatic matching, and list what is left for you.

  4. 4

    Follow the import

The ticks fill in as Lina works. She reads the bank's export with its own layout, a Date column with the day first, and imports it into the Gulf Horizon account. Importing statement lines needs no go-ahead; matching or excluding lines can't be undone, so Lina leaves those to you.

  5. 5

Read what is left for you

Lina's green Answer: all 48 lines of July to September came in, with dates read day-first, no errors and no duplicates, and the opening balance plus receipts less payments gives the statement's closing balance. The automatic matching found nothing, and Lina explains why: no bill or ledger line has the same amount as a bank line. She lists what is left for you, grouped: card receipts, an event deposit, payroll, rent, supplier and intercompany transfers, utilities, card fees, and one unidentified transfer to find out about.

  6. 6

See how Lina read the file

On Lina's card, select the line that says how long she worked. The steps show her finding the statement in the library, reading it, importing it and running the matching, with the two changes she made.

    • Select Worked for 3 min · 62 step(s) · 2 change(s)
  7. 7

    Check Banking in Accounting

In the left menu, under Finance, open Accounting. In the module's list, Banking now shows 48: the statement lines Lina imported. Open Banking to match the lines she left for you.

How to check it worked

The Gulf Horizon account shows the 48 third-quarter lines. Lina's answer says how many she imported, why none matched automatically, and lists the ones left for you.

Common mistakes

  • Re-typing a bank export into the app's own layout. Lina reads the bank's layout, such as Date and day-first dates, herself.
  • Accepting a suggested match without looking. Matches Lina is unsure of are left as suggestions for you.

    Show answer

Answer: B. Reads it as 1 July and reshapes the file for the import
